White Porto Tonico

While on our wine tour in Porto, we were told how the Portuguese wineries had started to push using Port as a cocktail ingredient, not just as a plain wine to drink. This has been their idea behind trying to get a younger crowd to begin enjoying Port. The most popular drink that has come out of this is the Porto Tonico. They have two different versions, based around the red or white ports that you use. Today, I’m sharing my personal favorite, the White Porto Tonico, an easy cocktail to make at home.

White Porto Tonico

Servings: 1 person
Course: Drinks
Cuisine: Portuguese

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz White Port
  • 2 oz Tonic or Seltzer Water
  • 1/4 Lemon sliced
  • Mint for garnish
  • Ice

Method
 

  1. In a glass, muddle a slice of lemon with some ice to release some of the juice. Add the port and tonic water and mix all together. Garnish with lemon slices and some mint.
