The 10 Unforgettable Books You’ll Think About Years Later

In January 2020, one of the resolutions I set for the year was to read 30 books, which ended up being one of the best resolutions I could have set for the year. Ever since then, I have done my best to keep up my reading habit, and even though I have read almost 100 books in the last 2 years, there’s still some books I can’t stop thinking about years later.

Some of these I still think about just based on the storyline, others because of a character I really liked (or absolutely hated). So, without further ado, here are the books you’ll think about years later.

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

I love a good mystery book every now and then and this one was one of the best ones I have come across in a while. Besides always wanting to go to Ireland, the way the characters story’s intertwined and ended still sticks out in my mind.

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory

This book couldn’t be more different than the Wedding Party tbh. Sometimes, I just want a quick and easy read that I don’t have to think took deeply about and if you’ve read any of Jasmine Guillory’s books, you know that they read like a romcom. This one sticks out in my mind out of the couple I have read, probably because the meet-cute was so unrealistic. But isn’t that why we love romcoms in the first place?

Last Tang Standing by Lauren Ho

Last Tang Standing was one of those books I kept seeing on different lists and after reading it, I understand why. The main character, Andrea, has a messy love life while continually questioning all of her life choices- something every twenty- and early-thirty somethings can relate to. Also, if I didn’t want to go to Singapore after the Crazy Rich Asians books, this one definitely convinced me.

The Heir Affair by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

It took me a long time to read this book series after hearing about it for a while, but when I finally did, I devoured both books in a week. Both are memorable but I find myself thinking about the second one even more. Maybe because of the drama, maybe because I correlate it with the British royal family a little more. Either way, it’s still on my mind.

Sex and Vanity by Kevin Kwan

The Crazy Rich Asians trilogy is a favorite of mine so when Kwan’s newest book came out, I read it as soon as possible. I did not see some of the twists coming in this book and still think about the ending quite a bit. I definitely recommend it to any Crazy Rich Asians fans.

Anna K by Jenny Lee

Anna K is a modern day retelling of Anna Karenina, which in full honesty I actually had no idea what the storyline was, but I loved all of the characters and intertwining stories. If you love YA books, you’ll be thinking about this one and the sequel for a while.

The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman

I first heard about this book on Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club list and was hooked very quickly. I don’t generally go for the fantasy-type genre (aka I never even read Harry Potter) but this was an exception I’m glad I made. I have read all of the sequels and prequels since reading this one first, and although all are great, this one sticks out in my mind the most.

Love and Gelato byJenna Evans Welch

Be prepared to have some major wanderlust after reading this book. I read it about a year after going to Italy myself and it made me relive all my favorite parts of Florence again, as well as wanting to go back right away. The characters were very likable and being a YA book, it was a really quick read.

Normal People by Sally Rooney

I read this just before the TV adaptation came out on Hulu and fell in love with it quickly. I think it only took me 4 hours to read the book because I was so into it. The writing style in this one made it really memorable for me since it was very conversational.

My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult

I was recently reminded of this book after seeing the movie on TV a couple months ago and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since. The ending is pretty shocking, so I won’t spoil it, but you’ll keep thinking about it many years later- I know from experience considering I read it back in high school.
